THE ROLE

Canyon is building custom AI agents that power our digital ecosystem—from internal productivity tools to customer-facing experiences reaching riders worldwide. We are seeking a pragmatic, hands-on AI Engineer to design robust RAG architectures, own prompt engineering end-to-end, and ship production-ready agents. Working across the stack from model behavior to deployment, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI at Canyon. 

YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW

• Agent Development: You design, implement, and maintain intelligent AI agents for customer service, internal productivity, and e-commerce applications.
• Prompt Engineering & Optimization: You own the development, testing, and continuous iteration of system and user prompts (currently via Azure OpenAI) to optimize agent behavior.
• RAG & Vector Search: You implement robust, agentic retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using Pinecone and vector databases to enable dynamic, context-aware responses.
• Evaluation & Quality Assurance: You define, track, and implement evaluation layers and performance metrics (latency, accuracy, engagement, CSAT) to ensure we consistently ship best-in-class products.
• Infrastructure & MLOps: You help build a maintainable AI infrastructure, integrating feedback loops, monitoring, versioning, and CI/CD practices for AI workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: You partner closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to shape new AI use cases and support fine-tuning LLMs with custom data.

HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE

• LLM & Prompting Expertise: Proven experience in building LLM-based applications (Azure AI, OpenAI, LLaMA, Mistral) paired with a deep understanding of prompt engineering and guardrails forms your core background.
• Technical & Coding Skills: Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with key AI/ML libraries (LangChain, Haystack, Hugging Face) allow you to turn concepts into functional code quickly.
• Architecture & MLOps: Hands-on experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate), Agentic RAG pipelines, MLOps monitoring, and cloud services (preferably Azure) set you apart.
• Integrations & Mindset: Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and modern CI/CD practices goes hand in hand with your pragmatic, fast-shipping approach and strong communication skills.
• Nice-to-Haves: Prior experience in DTC or e-commerce environments, a background in NLP/Machine Learning, or familiarity with AI ethics and data privacy is a distinct plus.
