And now, we’re looking for an Interim Head of Digital Marketing & Performance to lead a talented, driven team during a critical phase of our global growth.

You’ll lead the global strategy across Paid Media, SEO, CRM, and Email — working from our Amsterdam hub, backed by our passionate crew of performance marketers and industry experts. You’ll be responsible for executing Canyon’s digital marketing strategy across all relevant channels, scaling performance initiatives, and leading cross-functional teams to success.
Your deep focus and expertise will be within Paid Performance and SEO strategy and supporting the teams on delivery and execution. The main objective will be to achieve the full potential regarding Paid and SEO KPIs, timely and effective delivery, and ROI for Canyon.
YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW
- Supporting Paid Digital Media & Performance Marketing elevating the Team Lead and team to:
- Develop and execute a global paid media strategy across major marketing and media platforms — primarily Google, Meta, TikTok.
- Plan and execute full funnel paid media campaigns and refining investment strategy to deliver business and brand outcomes.
- Lead budget planning, optimization, and reporting across multiple regions, focusing on key performance metrics: Traffic, Revenue, (P)ROAS, CPA, CAC, LTV.
- Continuously refine and optimize media spending efficiency across paid and discounts through data-driven measurement strategies.
- Support team to design and implement media testing strategies (creative, messaging, audience segmentation) to enhance CAC and ROAS performance to support markets and product categories.
- Expand and diversify performance marketing channels, including affiliate marketing and other scalable digital formats.
- Launch and grow digital marketing capabilities in China, including channel setup and localization.
- Run global quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to report on KPIs and ensure cross-regional learning and impact, keeping the team accountable for meeting channel targets.
2. Supporting SEO and elevating the Team Lead and team to:
- Drive cost-effective organic traffic by enhancing visibility in search engines and maintaining top-tier keyword rankings in Europe and in the US markets.
- Ensure technical and content readiness for SEO (ecommerce layout, site architecture, and LLM-supported strategies).
- Build Canyon’s authority in cycling and performance through high-quality content creation and targeted keyword development.
- Develop digital PR campaigns and robust backlink strategies to further strengthen domain authority.
- Run global quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to report on KPIs and ensure cross-regional learning and impact, keeping the team accountable for meeting channel targets.
3. Overall Team Leadership
- Oversight
Supervising managers across Paid, SEO, CRM and Email channels, providing ongoing feedback and conducting performance reviews, ensuring compliance
- Strategic leadership
Setting vision, creating strategies, planning long-term goals
- Resource management and prioritization
Allocating resources and budgets, supporting managers and adjusting deliverables to meet business needs and outcomes

Liaising with leadership, board members, stakeholders and external partners

Leading by example, mentoring managers, fostering positive team culture

Overseeing departmental performance, analysing and improving business practices
HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE
- Minimum 5 years of experience in digital marketing, with proven leadership roles in SEO, Paid Media, and team management.
- Strong understanding of performance marketing KPIs, customer lifecycle marketing, and omnichannel strategy.
- Background in retail is essential, in cycling is a bonus.
- Experience leading cross-functional and international teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Data-driven mindset with a solid understanding of marketing attribution, analytics, and automation tools.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage priorities within a fixed-term structure.
