THE ROLE
As an IT System Engineer - Cloud (m/f/d), you will take ownership of designing, deploying, and continuously evolving our global cloud infrastructure. Beyond migrating legacy workflows into modern cloud environments, you will play a key role in optimizing system performance and ensuring the highest standards of cloud security. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will shape agile IT architectures and act as a driving force for future-oriented cloud initiatives within the Canyon Crew.
This role is based in our Canyon Tech Hub Barcelona, bringing together top tech talent to shape the future of cycling.
YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW
- Multi-Cloud Architecture & Operation: You are responsible for the architecture, implementation, and operation of our cloud infrastructures, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and a secondary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: You design and automate infrastructure deployments using IaC tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Identity & Network Integration: You ensure the seamless integration of cloud services into our existing identity management (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD) and network structures.
- Technical Consulting: You act as a technical consultant for internal development teams, helping them to architect scalable and cost-efficient cloud-native solutions.
- Cloud Governance & FinOps: You take ownership of cloud governance, including the management of subscriptions, resource groups, and cost optimization.
- Troubleshooting & High Availability: You handle troubleshooting and performance analysis within complex multi-cloud environments to ensure high availability.
- Landing Zones & Standardization: You are responsible for the continuous development of our landing zones and the standardization of cloud resources.
- Cloud Security: In close collaboration with our IT security team, you implement modern security standards (Zero Trust, Sentinel, Defender for Cloud) to protect our workloads.
- Hybrid Connectivity: You manage the connectivity between our on-premises locations and cloud providers via VPN or ExpressRoute/Interconnect.
- Strategic Migration Projects: You proactively contribute to strategic IT projects, driving the migration of legacy workloads to modern cloud environments.
HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE
- You have successfully completed a degree in (Business) Informatics or a comparable field; alternatively, you have completed vocational training in IT (e.g., IT Specialist for System Integration)
- You possess deep technical knowledge and several years of experience in administering Microsoft Azure; experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a significant advantage
- Proficient in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to manage cloud resources efficiently
- Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service / AKS or GKE) and modern CI/CD workflows
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or GCP Associate Cloud Engineer) complete your technical profile
- You are enthusiastic about cloud-first strategies and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where "Continuous Improvement" is lived daily
- Very good English skills (both written and spoken) enable you to communicate effectively within our team and with external partners
