THE ROLE

As an IT License Manager (m/f/d), you will take ownership of building and operating our centralized software asset management system across both SAP and non-SAP environments. Beyond ensuring continuous compliance and leading contract negotiations with major vendors like Microsoft and Salesforce, you will play a key role in optimizing IT budgets, managing software lifecycles, and developing cost-efficient licensing strategies. Leveraging your expertise in compliance auditing and procurement, you will serve as the primary advisor for internal departments to drive commercial efficiency within the Canyon Crew.

YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW

  • License Management & Compliance: Build and operate a centralized, scalable license management system (SAP and non-SAP), covering the entire software lifecycle—from procurement to retirement. Ensure compliance through regular internal audits and usage monitoring.
  • Procurement & Contracting: Oversee the procurement of software and cloud services, aligning business needs with technical and financial requirements. Negotiate contracts under various licensing frameworks (e.g. EA, CSP, Salesforce, SAP), ensuring cost-effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement: Administer license and serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments on licensing strategy, software usage policies, and commercial efficiency. Develop cost models and benchmarks, manage budgets, validate invoices, and support forecasting.
  • Reporting & Enablement: Provide regular reports on license inventory, risks, and optimization opportunities to senior management. Educate internal teams on compliance awareness and best practices in software asset and contract management.

HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT license management, enterprise software procurement, contract negotiation, and software asset management, with a particular focus on Microsoft environments.
  • Certified as License Manager with specializations in Microsoft SAM Pro, VMware and operative contract management.
  • Strong background in cost modeling, IT service management, license auditing, and the use of license management tools and digital documentation platforms like Confluence and SharePoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of licensing models and compliance requirements across major vendors (e.g., Microsoft; Salesforce; Adobe; SAP).
  • Skilled in budgeting and benchmarking, and adept at stakeholder communication.
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English, with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, structured, and reliable with a high level of responsibility and ownership.
