Job Description

THE ROLE

As an IT System Engineer (m/f/d) specializing in Azure Landing Zone Operations, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and continuous evolution of our global cloud infrastructure. In addition to migrating existing legacy workloads to modern cloud environments, you will play a key role in optimizing system performance and ensuring the highest standards of cloud security. Leveraging your strong technical expertise, you will shape agile IT architectures and significantly drive forward-thinking cloud initiatives across the Canyon Crew.

You will act as the interface between users and the Head of IT Operations. Drawing on your extensive professional experience, you will collaborate closely with fellow IT System Engineers and help advance the development of our cloud environments.

YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW

  • Technical Interface & Advisory Role
You serve as the link between users and the Head of IT Operations. In addition, you provide expert recommendations for the technology roadmap and support infrastructure-related decision-making.
  • Multi-Cloud Architecture & Operations
You are responsible for the implementation and day-to-day operation of our global cloud infrastructures, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and a secondary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation
You design and automate infrastructure deployments using modern IaC technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Identity & Network Integration
You ensure the seamless integration of cloud services into our existing identity management platform (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD) and global network infrastructure.
  • Technical Consulting
As a cloud expert, you advise and support internal development teams in designing scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud-native solutions.
  • Cloud Governance & FinOps
You consistently implement and enforce our cloud governance framework, including subscription management, resource group administration, and sustainable cost optimization.
  • Troubleshooting & High Availability
You conduct performance analyses and complex troubleshooting activities across multi-cloud environments to ensure maximum system availability.
  • Landing Zones & Standardization
You drive the continuous improvement of our landing zones and define standards for all global cloud resources.
  • Cloud Security
In close collaboration with our internal IT Security team, you implement modern security standards and frameworks, including Zero Trust, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Hybrid Connectivity
You manage and secure network connectivity between on-premises locations and cloud providers through technologies such as VPN, ExpressRoute, and Interconnect.

HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE

  • Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification forms your foundation; alternatively, a completed vocational IT training (e.g., IT Specialist for System Integration) is equally welcome.

  • Professional Experience: Several years of relevant experience working in distributed, international team environments set your profile apart.

  • Cloud Architecture & Administration Expertise: Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure architecture and administration characterizes your technical background, while strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is considered a major plus.

  • Scripting & Automation Skills: Advanced proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) enables the efficient orchestration and automation of cloud resources.

  • Containerization & DevOps Workflows: Solid practical experience with container orchestration platforms (Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)) as well as modern CI/CD pipelines shapes your daily execution.

  • Certifications & Industry Standards: Relevant industry credentials (such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or GCP Associate Cloud Engineer) round off your qualifications.

  • Mindset & Agile Culture: A genuine passion for cloud-first strategies, continuous improvement, and agile ways of working within dynamic environments defines your approach.

  • Language Skills: Excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken) allow for confident collaboration within a multinational team and with external partners.
