THE ROLE

As a PRODUCTION QUALITY ENGINEER - ASSEMBLY PARTNER  based at our headquarters in Koblenz, you act as the central link between our main office, foreign entities, and Asian assembly partners (OEM/ODM). With an international willingness to travel of approx. 20–30%, you will regularly support our partner plants on-site. Your main focus will be on ramp-up support for new bike models (ramp-up and series monitoring), conducting test assembly builds, and granting final series production release. In addition, you will be responsible for quality management and usage decisions for bike returns at the APAC Distribution Center (DC).

YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW

  • Ramp-up Support & Ramp-up Management (Focus ASIA): Operational quality management and intensive on-site support during new model ramp-ups in Asian partner assembly plants accompany execution and evaluation of test builds up to series release approval (Bike PPAP / RFMP).
  • Regular Assembly Partner Support: Regular on-site presence at Asian manufacturing partners (approx. 20–30% travel) enables auditing of assembly, packaging, and testing processes according to Canyon quality standards.
  • Quality Control in the APAC Distribution Center: Management of incoming goods inspections and issuance of usage decisions (release, rework, quarantine) in the regional Distribution Center for the APAC market is handled together with a 3rd party partner.
  • Troubleshooting & 8D Report Management: Initiation and tracking of quality notifications, root cause analysis (using 5-Why, Ishikawa), and definition of effective containment and corrective actions include comprehensive quarantine storage management.
  • Design for Assembly (DfA) Interface: Close alignment and sparring with R&D, Industrial Engineering, Operation Managers, and the Bike Validation Team at HQ Koblenz optimizes the assemblability of future bike platforms and components.
  • KPI-Driven Quality Improvement: Development, tracking, and reporting of quality-relevant key figures (audit results, NPS, complaint rate, scrap rate) drive the implementation of Quality Improvement Plans for Asian assembly lines.
  • Supplier Qualification & Cost of Quality: Managing supplier complaints regarding component and frame defects involves monitoring containment actions and tracking quality-related costs across the Asian region.
  • Lean & Process Optimization on the Shop Floor: Assisting partner plants in balancing cycle times (Yamazumi), reducing downtime, and optimizing ergonomic tact workstations applies proven Lean principles.

  • Quality & Methodological Expertise: Several years of professional experience in quality management/quality engineering within the bike, sports, or automotive industry shapes your background, accompanied by sound knowledge of PPAP/APQP, FMEA, 8D, SPC, VDA, or Six Sigma.
  • Location & Travel Readiness: A permanent base at HQ Koblenz and willingness to undertake regular business trips (approx. 20–30%) to the Asia region support our suppliers, assembly plants, and APAC DC.
