THE ROLE
We are hiring a Market Manager China to deliver our strong growth plans at Canyon, reporting to the Regional Manager.
As Market Manager you will be responsible for Canyon’s successful Market entry. You will be developing the Market strategy & position and business planning for the Chinese market as well as driving new creative ways of doing business and directing all aspects of the brand and the business. Ultimately, you will be responsible for developing both long term and short-term China business plans, as well as direct accountability for profit and loss (P&L).
Fundamentally, you will set base for the future and eventual set up and management of a local office and general operations.
This role will be based in Shanghai and working closely with our teams in Asia and report to our regional APAC leader.
With your skills, experience and passion you will create significant impact, accompany Canyon’s ambitious growth plans and build up the China market.
YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW
- Lead the company’s strategic business and brand direction in line with Canyon ’s established position and execute a market entry and business development plan within the China market
- Provide oversight and leadership in the local execution of business initiatives, from planning to completion in the areas of Marketing & Brand, Sales, Customer Experience and Technical Service (ASP’s)
- Manage program, projects, budgets, resources and relationships to ensure organizational objectives and overall company business case are achieved
- Full Profit and Loss responsibility for the region including the development of annual business plans for the Canyon business that includes expense budget forecast and execution on plan, staff planning, local product portfolio, Sales forecasting, Marketing/ Events plan and budget
- Establish relationships with associated service partners: ASP’s who provide mechanical and warranty support for our consumers and bring new customer experience to Chinese riders and communities
- Identify unmet China market trends by ongoing feedback to Regional and Global Sales and Product teams on market intelligence including competitor information, market development and growth opportunities
- Work with Global People team to develop the team: recruit, provide leadership and guidance to current and future Canyon staff; develop job descriptions and contracts which meet local requirements
- Work with Global Retail Team to manage local retail initiatives and staff to achieve growth and P&L metrics
- Pursue operational efficiency & profitability by leveraging shared service model working closely with Canyon Koblenz HQ.
- Assure all Canyon facilities within the country are maintained to represent the Canyon Brand at the highest level of professionalism to internal and external people of concern
- As the highest-ranking Canyon employee in the market, assure any and all statutory requirements are met as communicated by Global Legal or Finance Teams
- Assure one Canyon Culture is communicated and embodied within local entity to assure alignment on global brand initiatives and strong employee identification
HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related
- 8+ years’ work experience with at least 3 years in a leadership position, ideally within the sports industry
- Strong knowledge of the Chinese bike market
- Proven track record managing successful teams
- Experience in strategy development and execution
- Strong business acumen to set relevant targets for the local market
- Strong strategic and organizational skills to translate business needs into meaningful actions
- Ability to respond to changing priorities in an evolving business environment and manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Bike enthusiast and profound knowledge of bike market
