THE ROLE
As we continue to expand our product lines and global footprint, we are seeking a Product Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of bicycle products, from concept through end-of-life. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet market demands, align with the brand’s vision, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and manage the product roadmap for bicycles and accessories, aligning with company goals and market trends. Identify new product opportunities and enhancements to existing products.
- Market Research: Conduct thorough market analysis to understand customer needs, competitor products, and emerging trends in the bicycle industry. Use this information to inform product development and positioning.
- Product Development: Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop new bicycle models and accessories. Ensure that products meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept through to end-of-life. Manage product updates, discontinuations, and transitions in the market.
- User Experience: Ensure that the customer experience is central to product development. Work with user experience teams to gather feedback and incorporate it into product design and improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and customer service teams to ensure successful product launches. Provide product training and support materials to internal teams.
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of components and adherence to quality standards. Negotiate contracts and manage relationships to optimize costs and performance.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the product budget, ensuring that projects stay within financial constraints. Analyze product profitability and make data-driven decisions to maximize return on investment.
- Product Launch: Lead the go-to-market strategy for new products, working with marketing teams to create compelling launch campaigns. Monitor product performance post-launch and make necessary adjustments.
- Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable practices into product development, considering environmental impact and opportunities for eco-friendly innovations.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the product management process, incorporating best practices and new methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in product management, preferably within the bicycle industry or a related field such as outdoor gear or sporting goods.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the bicycle industry, including market trends, customer preferences, and the competitive landscape.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong project management skills with experience using tools such as Jira, Trello, or similar.
- Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.
- Understanding of bicycle design and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Other Requirements:
- Passion for cycling and a deep understanding of the needs of cyclists.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with suppliers, attend industry events, and visit manufacturing sites.
Travel Requirements:
- Frequent travel (approximately 5%) through Europe, Asia, and the United States will be required to visit other office locations, attend conferences, visit suppliers and customers, conduct market research, and collaborate on projects.
- A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally are essential for this role.
