THE ROLE

As a direct-to-consumer e-commerce company, the e-commerce platform is a critical factor for the digital transmission of our brand experience to our customers. As our Senior Technical Architect Commerce Cloud, you will be an important factor in our success and growth. You will focus on designing our best-in-class solutions and be a key interface between the business and the development team. We value active participation in the design and optimization of existing processes in order to constantly improve ourselves as a team, but most importantly our solutions.

This role is based in our Canyon Tech Hub Barcelona, bringing together top tech talent to shape the future of cycling.

YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW

  • API-First Transformation: You lead the transition of our eCommerce landscape towards a decoupled, API-driven architecture to ensure maximum scalability and flexibility.
  • Requirement Analysis: Continuously carry out the analysis of our business requirements and responsibility for the translation into intelligent, stable, and scalable technical solutions.
  • Technical Conceptualization: Breaking down the user stories and use cases into technical concepts and implementation tasks.
  • Architecture Documentation: Creating technical design concepts and documents (data model, system integration concept, data migration planning, etc.).
  • Prototyping & Innovation: Ensure the implementation of prototypes and prepare "make or buy" decisions for new features.
  • Quality & Governance: Ensure the quality of the services provided by the development team in technical and architectural terms according to Canyon guidelines and common best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Optimize architecture guidelines, development processes, and tools.
  • Technical Leadership: Take over and be responsible for the technical management of the dev team.
  • Global Engineering Governance: Define and enforce high-quality coding standards, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines for a distributed development setup to ensure architectural consistency.
  • Technical Onboarding & Mentoring: Establish technical onboarding processes and provide continuous guidance for international engineering squads to align their output with Canyon’s quality benchmarks.
  • Architectural Gatekeeping: Act as the final authority for technical reviews and pull requests (PRs), ensuring that features developed by external or remote teams meet long-term scalability goals.
  • Bridge Function: Serve as the primary technical liaison between the German product/business stakeholders and the execution-focused development teams in various time zones.

HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE

  • A degree in (technical) computer science, software engineering, or a comparable field of study forms your professional foundation.
  • 10+ years of professional experience as a technical architect or consultant in the (B2C) eCommerce environment.
  • A proven track record (5+ years) in developing and scaling Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud solutions.
  • Extensive technical expertise in eCommerce ecosystems, Salesforce integrations, DevOps, and modern API standards (REST/GraphQL).

  • Proficiency in using modern collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Teams) to manage complex development cycles across different geographical locations.
  • Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to act as a "buffer" and translator between business requirements and technical implementation in a global delivery model.
